Rihanna called for an end to gun violence as she mourned the death of her cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne.
The singer expressed her sorrow on a social media post. “RIP cousin…can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! #endgunviolence,” Rihanna posted via Instagram.
Tavon, 21, was shot and killed in Barbados on Tuesday, a day after Christmas. According to Barbados Today, an intruder invaded Alleyne’s home and shot him multiple times before leaving the scene.
On Wednesday, Rihanna posted a clip of her late cousin smiling. In the video he says, “It’s nice to wake up and see all of your brothers and sisters.”
“It’s nice to wake up. Be grateful for life man. #RIPTavon,” Rihanna captioned the video.
Later that day, Rihanna and her family paid tribute to Tavon by taking shots in his memory.
Police are still searching for the shooter responsible for Tavon’s death.
